About It's Complicated

In 2019, two therapists set out to build the platform they wished existed.

As therapists, our clients remind us every day that life is indeed complicated. But building a practice today is no less so. Navigating administration, growing a client base, handling GDPR and security, all while facing the isolation private practice can bring. It's Complicated was built as our response: to make this work more human, and less about figuring it all out alone, but in community with others.Founded by clinical psychologist Johanne Schwensen and Jungian analyst Jakob Lusensky, It's Complicated is an international community of +5,000 therapists, and growing. Built by therapists, for therapists, and partly owned by the community.Since our founding in Berlin in 2019, we remain an independent, therapist-run alternative to platforms like BetterHelp and other venture-backed marketplaces. No growth hacks disguised as care. No replacing the therapeutic relationship with AI chatbots. Just a platform to help you connect with the right clients, manage your practice with ease, and belong to a living community across Europe and beyond.
