Clinical psychology is a field that combines science, theory and practice to understand, predict and treat mental problems and disorders and promote personal development.
Clinical psychology draws insights from different theoretical models. Clinical psychologists can work from different therapy approaches (such as behavioural, cognitive, psychoanalytical, humanistic or systemic), or they can integrate insights from different approaches. Clinical psychologists can provide clinical psychological assessments (diagnoses), or they can do psychotherapy or rehabilitation for people with various forms of mental disorders or conditions. Clinical psychologists can also be involved in various forms of preventive activities in the field of mental health.
