About me

I have lived in Berlin for the past 15 years. I also lived for an extended period in the United States. My studies and professional career have given me extensive experience in a trilingual environment. Since my husband is American and we have two daughters who were born and raised in Germany, at home I am regularly confronted with the tensions or discrepancies that can result from cultural particularities and differences. For me, becoming a therapist was part of an emotional and creative journey. The loss of an essential attachment figure in my childhood caused me deep emotional upheaval, and took me many years to integrate psychologically. It is not surprising that emotionally focused couple therapy, which is based on attachment theory, resonated strongly with me. Having been in a couple for about 15 years, I can also see how the evolution of my relationship towards a stable and solid bond has allowed me to gain confidence in others and in myself. I take an empathetic approach to helping couples progressively identify painful patterns, destructive dynamics and negative cycles that are harming their relationship. My goal is to provide couples with a protected space where each partner can feel and express their emotions in complete safety. Changing a couple's relationship rhythms requires deep emotional work: daring to expose vulnerabilities, as well as welcoming and acknowledging the other's feelings. I help you change your perspective on your relationship, opening new potential for connecting with each other and yourselves. My approach

My approach is to integrate the transition from one language to another in the sessions themselves to suit your particular needs. I work with emotionally focused couple therapy (EFT). Emotionally focused couple therapy was founded by Canadian psychologist Sue Johnson. It is based on the work of John Bowlby and his theory of attachment, according to which the search for closeness and security through emotional bonds - relationships with parents - is the expression of a primary need in children. Emotionally focused couple therapy emphasizes attachment in the adult relationship as the central force organizing the dynamics at work in the couple's emotional bond, regardless of sexual orientation. The goal of emotionally focused therapy is to create and maintain a "secure" bond of attachment: each partner can find anchorage, comfort and intimacy with the other when he/she needs it. This is the necessary condition to establish a deep sense of security, from which will flow essential faculties in the relationship, such as regulating emotions, processing information, solving difficulties, better dealing with differences and communicating clearly, not to mention gaining autonomy and self-confidence. I have a flexible pricing option for people in financial difficulties. To get more information you can visit my website: https://en.international-coupletherapy-berlin.com/mon-approche
